    Sandy is based in Carluke, South Lanarkshire.  He qualified with the Diploma of the Worshipful Company of Farriers in 1984.  Attained the Associateship of the Worshipful Company of Farriers in 1988 and finally in 1989 achieved the Fellowship of the Worshipful Company of Farriers.

    Sandy has trained 8 apprentices including one to Fellowship status.  He has demonstrated, examined and lectured Farriery all over the world, including Canada, Dubai, America and Australia.

    Sandy competed successfully at various Shoeing Competitions throughout the 80s and 90s at the highest level.  He represented Scotland several times, winning the 4-Man Team World Championship in Calgary in 1988 and was Individual International Champion in 1992.

    Sandy was one of the invited co-authors of Dr Simon Curti’s Corrective Farriery – a textbook of remedial horseshoeing Volume 1, First published 2002.

    Sandy was inducted into the International Horseshoeing Hall of Fame in America in 2011 for Achievements and Contributions in advancing the Farriery industry.

    Sandy has been a Worshipful Company of Farriers’ Senior Examiner for almost 30 years and was Chairman of the Examination’s Board from 2012 to 2015.
